It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical authority in materials science, chemistry, and/or biomedical engineering, supporting product development, technology advancement, and lifecycle management activities.

  • Lead and execute complex, high‑impact technical work independently, from problem definition through solution implementation.

  • Design, interpret, and defend experimental strategies, data packages, and technical justifications used for development, verification, and regulatory support.

  • Drive innovation through original research, new material concepts, formulations, or processes, with a focus on performance, manufacturability, safety, and compliance.

  • Translate scientific findings into actionable engineering decisions and clear recommendations for cross‑functional stakeholders (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing).

  • Act as a mentor and technical role model, raising the technical rigor and effectiveness of project teams.

  • Communicate technical results effectively through clear written reports, presentations, publications, and patents.

  • Demonstrate a strong results‑oriented mindset, consistently delivering against aggressive timelines and business priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a top‑tier (top 20) university.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industrial experience following completion of Ph.D.

  • Demonstrated record of technical excellence, evidenced by peer‑reviewed scientific publications and issued patents.

  • Proven ability to apply scientific depth to real‑world engineering and product development challenges.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of experience in the medical device industry.

  • Experience working under regulated environments (e.g., FDA, ISO, MDR).

  • Track record of translating research into commercially viable, compliant medical products.

  • Experience contributing to or leading cross‑functional technical initiatives.

Personal Characteristics

  • Driven, disciplined, and highly motivated, with a strong work ethic and bias for execution.

  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability—delivers results, not just ideas.

  • Excellent communicator who can influence without authority and engage effectively with senior technical and business leaders.

  • Curious, rigorous, and resilient—comfortable operating in ambiguity while maintaining high technical standards.
