Our vision for Field Inventory at BD

The Field Inventory team is dedicated to the efficient and compliant management of consignment and sales representative inventory, as well as other inventory-related activities that arise outside of the traditional supply chain.  We partner with many different functional teams to drive positive results for the businesses we support.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

The Manager, Consignment Account Management is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of field-based Consignment Account Managers (CAMs). This role provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of team activities to ensure effective execution of consignment inventory management processes, customer service, inventory optimization initiatives, and compliance requirements within assigned territories.

The Manager, Consignment Account Management partners closely with Sales Leadership, Field Inventory Operations, Contracts, Customer Service, and Finance to support business objectives and drive consistent execution across the team.

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Lead, coach, develop, and manage a team of field-based Consignment Account Managers responsible for customer consignment programs across multiple geographic territories.

  • Establish team goals and performance expectations while driving accountability for customer service, inventory management, productivity, and compliance objectives.

  • Partner closely with Sales Leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure proper support and execution of customer inventory programs.

  • Monitor and analyze team performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Conduct regular coaching sessions, field rides, performance reviews, and development planning with direct reports.

  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention efforts for CAMs.

  • Ensure team compliance with company policies, inventory management procedures, quality requirements, and regulatory expectations.

  • Assist in resolving customer escalations and operational issues related to consignment inventory management and inventory recovery efforts.

  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Field Inventory Operations, Customer Service, Finance, Contracts, and Supply Chain teams.

  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects designed to improve inventory performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

  • Travel regularly to support field personnel, conduct coaching and development activities, and participate in customer and business meetings.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate geographically dispersed field-based employees.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to analyze data and performance metrics to drive business decisions and team performance.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and reporting software within a Windows-based environment.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships across multiple functions and organizational levels.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to travel frequently.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in account management, inventory management, field operations, sales operations, healthcare operations, or a related business function preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of direct people leadership experience managing employees or field-based teams preferred.

  • Experience managing performance metrics, coaching employees, and driving operational results.

  • Experience in medical device, healthcare, logistics, inventory management, or a related industry.

  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement efforts preferred.
