The Director, Product Management - Women’s and Sexual Health is a global leadership role within the Molecular Diagnostics segment of the Advanced Diagnostics organization, accountable for defining the portfolio vision, shaping long-term strategy, and leading lifecycle execution for a portfolio of regulated molecular diagnostic solutions. This role is responsible for translating unmet clinical, customer, and business needs into clear product priorities, robust business cases, and commercially viable product plans that advance the portfolio and strengthen competitive position across global markets.
This leader will set the direction for the Women’s and Sexual Health portfolio by aligning innovation, evidence generation, regulatory strategy, operational readiness, and lifecycle investment decisions to deliver differentiated solutions with meaningful clinical and economic value. The role serves as the product management anchor across functions, ensuring the portfolio roadmap is grounded in market realities, technical feasibility, and disciplined execution from concept through post-launch optimization.
This position is remote but requires the ability to be in the Sparks, MD office three days per week, or willingness to relocate to the area.
Key Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for setting portfolio direction, leading cross-functional product decisions, and driving disciplined execution across the full product lifecycle.
- Define and lead the portfolio strategy for Women’s and Sexual Health, including portfolio prioritization, roadmap development, lifecycle investment choices, and long-range planning aligned to clinical need, market opportunity, and business objectives.
- Own product requirements and portfolio decisions across the development lifecycle, establishing clear intended use, target customer workflows, performance requirements, evidence needs, and success metrics to guide cross-functional execution and governance.
- Develop robust business cases for new products, menu expansions, claims extensions, and partnership opportunities by assessing customer need, competitive dynamics, technical feasibility, regulatory complexity, reimbursement considerations, and financial return.
- Lead cross-functional product core teams in partnership with R&D, Medical and Scientific Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and regional commercial leaders to advance programs on time and with clear decision-making.
- Translate changes in clinical practice, screening paradigms, public health priorities, and market evolution into actionable portfolio recommendations and roadmap updates.
- Establish and maintain product lifecycle strategies, including launch readiness from a product and operational perspective, supply alignment, product change management, geographic expansion planning, and end-of-life decisions where applicable.
- Serve as the global product leader for the portfolio, balancing enterprise priorities with regional market needs and ensuring product strategy reflects differences in regulatory pathways, clinical practice, and customer workflow requirements.
- Monitor portfolio performance across revenue, adoption, utilization, pricing, margin, forecast accuracy, and customer feedback, and lead corrective actions or optimization plans where performance gaps or new opportunities are identified.
- Drive portfolio governance and executive communication by preparing recommendation-driven updates, decision materials, and strategic trade-off analyses for senior leadership.
- Build strong external insight channels through direct customer engagement, key opinion leader interactions, scientific congress participation, and competitive intelligence to inform portfolio strategy and future innovation priorities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 7 years of product management experience within in vitro diagnostics, medical devices, life sciences, or a related healthcare industry.
- Demonstrated experience leading the development, launch, and lifecycle management of regulated diagnostic, medical device, or life science products.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence decisions in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and business acumen, with experience translating market and customer needs into portfolio decisions and execution plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree and/or MBA preferred.
- Experience in molecular diagnostics, women’s health, sexual health, screening programs, or adjacent clinical areas preferred.
- Global portfolio management experience across multiple markets and regulatory environments preferred.
Skills
- Strong portfolio strategy, business case development, and financial analysis skills, with the ability to connect customer insight, market dynamics, and financial outcomes.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proactive, structured approach to navigating business and execution challenges.
