Job Description

About the Role

  • As part of the Responsible Sourcing team, the Senior Analyst, Responsible Sourcing will assist in the execution of Responsible Sourcing Strategy across BD.
  • This role will support the execution of key elements of our Responsible Sourcing Strategy, primarily focusing on the administration of our supplier due diligence program with respect to human rights, environment and governance. This work contributes to BD’s overall Sustainability Strategy, including our efforts to better understand and mitigate supply chain risks and comply with various current and emerging ESG compliance requirements. As such, this role will also collaborate across BD on various cross-functional projects as necessary to advance sustainability at BD.  

Primary Responsibilities include:

Program Tracking and Management

  • Coordinate and drive accountability, schedule development, resource and other planning and the review of progress on projects. Maintain the annual list of suppliers prioritized for assessment (and those assessed suppliers rated as high risk) and drive completion of this list.

Supplier Communication

  • Communicate directly with suppliers to engage them in various ESG related outreach efforts
  • Deploy supplier assessments and on site audits via third party tools
  • Schedule meetings and manage follow ups, contribute to discussion and lead presentations where necessary
  • Develop large scale supplier communications or trainings about BD Environmental Social and Governance efforts to educate and engage
  • Monitor group inbox, replying to general queries on Responsible Sourcing and escalate questions as necessary.

Third party coordination

  • Manage regular updates with the third parties contributing various work components to the Responsible Sourcing Program
  • Troubleshoot lack of forward progress and make changes with third parties as necessary to keep program on track
  • Evaluate effectiveness of various initiatives
  • Create timeline for planned efforts and monitor third party progress to completion
  • Evaluate and advance BD’s utilization of third party tools as necessary.

Program Material development

  • Evaluate existing assets and build a full suite of program materials for responsible sourcing geared to providing resources and best practice to suppliers to support their sustainability efforts.

Data Management and Analysis

  • Act as the primary owner of the ESG risk data – owning the supplier list for  annual human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) outreach , tracking which suppliers have completed what assessment, the results of these assessments and next steps, and proactively troubleshooting gaps in data
  • Develop data analysis around the data received from third party tools to create reports, (including excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI) increase utilization of data within Procurement teams, and update the organization on learnings
  • Proactively encourage engagement with the data across Procurement to ensure various teams are taking supplier ESG risk into various stages of sourcing.

Supplier Risk & Audit Management

  • Managing high-risk suppliers through ongoing monitoring of assigned Preventive Action Plans (PAPs), assessing mitigation effectiveness, and collaborating with Global Category Managers (GCMs) and Supplier Relationship Owners (SROs) to drive timely risk reduction and supplier engagement.
  • Coordinating supplier on-site audits, including supplier selection, engagement of third-party audit firm, reviewing audit reports, and monitoring the implementation and closure of corrective action plans (CAPs)
  • Conducting supplier due diligence activities, including screening against restricted party and forced labor watchlists (e.g., UFLPA Entity List), and driving appropriate risk mitigation actions.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • A minimum of 1-3 years work experience; experience in a large multinational company preferred
  • Project/program management processes, tools and best practices
  • Data tracking, manipulation, analysis and reporting
  • Basic ESG (environmental, social, governance) topics and how they apply to large businesses, deeper interest and understanding in specific topics such as GHG emissions, Human Rights Due Diligence a plus
  • Procurement principles and practices
  • Broad business knowledge and acumen
  • Proficiency in project and program management tools (MS Office, MS Project, MS SharePoint, etc.), including experience managing large data sets in Excel, experience with ERP systems desired.
