Job Description

We are the makers of possible

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

We believe that the human element, across our global teams, is what allows us to continually evolve. Join us and discover an environment in which you’ll be supported to learn, grow and become your best self. Become a maker of possible with us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Champion: Become an integral team member on sustaining engineering projects, ensuring site requirements are seamlessly woven into project scope, risk assessments, and implementation strategies.
  • Communication Catalyst: Serve as the vital bridge between platform project teams and manufacturing sites, translating complex execution needs, risks, and constraints into actionable insights.
  • Strategic Resource Advisor: Provide crucial site-level intelligence on capacity, timing, and resource availability to power project sequencing and prioritization decisions.
  • Execution Maestro: Orchestrate site activities including validations, process studies, engineering work orders, material trials, and production line scheduling.
  • Risk Navigator: Proactively monitor site readiness and execution risks, escalating potential impacts to leadership to enable swift, effective mitigation strategies.
  • Change Implementation Specialist: Drive successful implementation of critical sustaining changes across materials, packaging, processes, compliance initiatives, and business continuity projects.
  • Documentation Guardian: Ensure meticulous completion of all required documentation and change control activities, including validation documentation, training coordination, and implementation closeout.
  • Portfolio Manager: Take ownership of the complete Sustaining projects portfolio for sites within your scope, driving efficiency and excellence.

Skills and Knowledge - Your Toolkit for Success!

  • Exceptional communication and coordination skills with the proven ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Background in business analysis, product management, or negotiation/mediation that enables you to navigate complex situations.
  • Valuable exposure to cost-out strategies, supply continuity planning, compliance initiatives, or end-of-life product management.

How You'll Know You're Succeeding

  • Manufacturing sites recognize you as their clear, trusted point of contact for all sustaining engineering initiatives.
  • Project teams gain unprecedented visibility into site capacity, timing constraints, and execution challenges.
  • Validations, trials, and implementations happen earlier, smoother, and with dramatically fewer disruptions.
  • Sustaining projects flow efficiently through the pipeline thanks to your masterful coordination between sites and platform teams.
  • Site sustaining needs receive the attention they deserve through your clear communication and effective prioritization at the platform level.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Project Management, Communications, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, sustaining engineering, process engineering, or product lifecycle support within a regulated industry.

  • Experience supporting cross‑functional project teams with site execution responsibilities.

  • Experience operating in a quality‑ and regulatory‑controlled environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical devices or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Experience coordinating site trials or execution across multiple manufacturing lines or sites.

  • Familiarity with SAP manufacturing and document control systems.

  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar project or operations certifications.
