Job Description

BD Canada is looking to welcome a new member to their Finance department as a Financial Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for adhering to accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP, support financial reporting deliverables at month-end and year-end, as well as analysis of results across the Balance Sheet and Income Statement.

The associate would also have exposure to some of the following areas of responsibility, which will fluctuate depending on the needs of the organization: quarterly projection and annual budget forecasting; submissions related to accounting, inventory management and costing processes; cash flow management; corporate tax compliance; record-to-report processes, etc. The successful candidate will be adaptable and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, with a strong desire for continuous learning and growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare deliverables related to month-end and year-end reporting requirements to ensure timely and detailed reporting of financial packages and specific close procedures.
  • Follow accounting policies/procedures in accordance with US GAAP, ensuring that accounting obligations of the company are met.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and/or balance sheet reconciliations to maintain complete and accurate accounting records.
  • Support investigation of significant variance on balance sheet, P&L and costing budgets.
  • Support the preparation of working papers required for quarterly projection and annual budget forecasts (balance sheet and P&L); assist in updating financial models.
  • Support in cost accounting responsibilities including: new product activations, maintenance of cost status within local ERP, ad hock re-costing during the year, standard cost roll, etc.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (ex: shared services, AR, AP, Intercompany, Fixed Assets; supply chain; customer service; corporate functions, etc.) to support various areas of financial reporting.
  • Statistical and compliance related reporting/support including: pension audit, internal audit, external audit, stats can reporting, etc. 
  • Serve as liaison between shared services group and the local business.
  • Assist with leading ad hock assignments and special projects from Management.

Education and Experience required:

  • CPA Designation required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business, or Economics
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in a comparable role, including GL reconciliations, journal entries, month‑end close activities, and variance analysis, with proven ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Working experience with ERP systems such as SAP, JDE.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Work, Outlook), advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, complex formulas, etc.)
  • Demonstrates keen attention to detail with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills that can partner well with cross-functional peers.
  • Strong time management and ability to juggle competing priorities while effectively meeting deadlines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Public Accounting background, complemented by hands‑on experience in the Healthcare sector preferred.
  • Experience using BPC (SAP Financial Business Planning & Consolidation tool) an asset.

Salary ranges have been implemented to reward associates fairly and competitively, as well as to support recognition of associates’ progress, ranging from entry level to experts in their field, and talent mobility. There are many factors that contribute to the range displayed. The range displayed iscomprisedof wages, which includes base salary and commission, as well as certain components of our bonus programs. The salary offered to a successful candidate may vary based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, education, skills, qualifications, and work location.

Salary Range Information: $69000 - $119000 Annual
