Job Description
Role Summary
Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) is seeking an accomplished Senior Vice President of Human Resources to lead all business-aligned HR business partners across the enterprise. This role ensures that BDs Business Units’ HR strategy, operating models, and talent standards align closely with BD’s business priorities and long-term growth. It is responsible for enabling business units’ success through effective leadership team dynamics, a strong and scalable talent pipeline, and seamless collaboration across the BD matrix.
Reporting to the CHRO, the SVP serves as a key enterprise leader, trusted advisor to senior executives—including Segment EVPs—and a strategic partner to the executive leadership team. All eight Business Unit VP HRs, including the Segment HR integrators, report to this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise HR Leadership & Governance: Provide leadership and oversight to all business-aligned HR leaders, ensuring consistency, quality, and effectiveness of HR delivery across BD’s global business units.
- Organizational Design & Effectiveness: Through the BU VP HRs, leads organizational design, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives across all Business Units to ensure structures, capabilities, and talent are aligned to strategy.
- Talent & Staffing Strategy: Partner with Talent Acquisition, Executive Search, and business leaders to ensure robust talent pipelines, succession planning, and executive staffing across Global Business Units.
- Mergers, Acquisitions & Integration: Serve as the HR functional leader for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and integrations, including due diligence, organization design, leadership selection, change management, and culture integration.
- Executive Partnership: Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO, CHRO, and EVP, Global Segments (Medical Essential, Interventional and Connected Care) on people strategy, leadership effectiveness, operating model decisions, and enterprise transformation.
- HR Leader Development: Coach, develop, and hold accountable senior HR leaders to ensure strong business acumen, executive presence, and consistent application of BD’s values and leadership behaviors.
- Change & Transformation Leadership: Lead large-scale change initiatives impacting people, culture, and operating models, ensuring effective communication, engagement, and adoption.
- Enterprise Collaboration: Work closely with COEs (Talent, Total Rewards, DEI, Learning, HR Operations) to translate strategy into scalable, business-relevant HR solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive human resources leadership experience within a global, complex organization.
- Proven experience leading HR strategy for multiple business units or enterprise-wide functions.
- Demonstrated experience serving as the HR lead for mergers, acquisitions, and integrations.
- Strong background in organizational design, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
- Track record of influencing and partnering with executive leadership teams and Boards, as appropriate.
- Experience in leading and applying lean and kaizen excellence principles and techniques such as PSP is preferred.

Compensation Range: $350-450K
