Job Description
Responsibilities
Leadership:
Lead and motivate production personnel, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Provide hands-on training and mentorship to operators, ensuring skill development and adherence to best practices
Support the Production Supervisor in managing daily operations and resolving issues promptly.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects.
Production & Process Management:
Oversee production performance to ensure timely output and product quality.
Coordinate with other departments to maintain workflow and meet production targets.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) gains.
Technical Operations:
Operate, set up, sanitize, adjust, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment.
Perform and document preventive maintenance (PMs) accurately and on schedule.
Maintain clear, legible logs and records; neat handwriting is required.
Train operators on equipment operation, safety, and maintenance procedures.
Provide technical support to ensure smooth equipment operation and minimal downtime.
Certification Requirement: Must complete Lead Operator 1 certification within 1 year of assuming the role.
Quality Assurance
Monitor product quality and implement corrective actions as needed.
Collaborate with the quality assurance team to uphold and improve quality standards.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate production records and ensure confirmation accuracy.
Prepare and submit TMS reports, PSA reports, equipment status updates, and production metrics.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Other responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Comply with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality assurance principles.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.

Supervision
Reports directly to department Manufacturing Supervisor.
Although there is no direct supervision over others, the Lead Operator may be asked to assign people to various job assignments and assist the supervisor in managing daily operations.
Education
High school diploma.
Technical training beyond secondary preferred but not required.
Experience
Preferred 1 year in a manufacturing environment, with experience in equipment operation, team leadership, and process improvement.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Knowledge: Foundational knowledge in equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with production management tools and preventive maintenance practices.
Flexibility in scheduling to be here for maintenance and to meet production needs.
Core Competencies
Ability to read, write and understand English.
Ability to understand the operation of production equipment and how to troubleshoot problems when encountered.
Physical Requirements
Level 4
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.
Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Working Conditions
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals and broken glass.
The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
