Job Description
About the role
BD is seeking a highly talented Senior Electronic Engineer to join its growing Pharmacy Automation team—part of a rapidly expanding, high-growth area where BD is a global leader. This platform enables BD to deliver innovative, connected care technologies that support pharmacy customers in modernizing operations, expanding into new care settings, and addressing key industry challenges such as clinician shortages and healthcare worker burnout.
In this role, you will play a critical part in the design and development of electro-mechanical systems, contributing across the full product lifecycle—from early-stage technology development through to commercialization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to deliver advanced hardware and software solutions within a diverse portfolio that includes robotics, dispensing systems, vision technologies, and pharmacy management platforms.

Main responsibilities will include:
Design of electronic assemblies and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies for electro‑mechanical products across development and product lifecycle.
Own end‑to‑end PCBA design from concept, schematic capture, and component selection through layout support, bring‑up, verification, and release to manufacturing.
Select and qualify electronic components considering electrical performance, reliability, availability, lifecycle status, and second‑source strategy.
Perform board bring‑up, debugging, and verification using appropriate laboratory equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power analysis).Work with cross functional teams such as mechanical, software, systems and quality engineering to contribute to project schedules and project budgets in the coordination of overall product development.
Evaluate and implement designs to ensure that all agency requirements (UL, IEC, FDA) are met throughout the design process
Design and tests for EMI compliance, safety, manufacturability
Design electronic assemblies with DFM/DFA/DFT principles to ensure quality and manufacturability.
Apply failure analysis skills to determine and document root cause of product system or component failure.
Ensure devices are developed in accordance with applicable machinery regulations, integrating compliance requirements throughout the design and development process.
Generate design specifications, test protocols and test reports
Participate in technical design reviews to ensure electrical design integrity and safety are achieved.
Provide technical ownership and mentor junior engineers
Management of laboratory electronic equipment calibration
About you:
Hold a relevant Level 8 degree in Engineering (BSC in Electronics), or equivalent proven experience.
5+ years of industry experience in a similar position; experience with machinery/equipment is a strong advantage. Strong Electronics knowledge, experience with both analog and digital design and mixed signal circuits are required.
Proven hands‑on experience in PCBA design for industrial or regulated products.
Proficient with ECAD tools (Altium Designer preferred)
Experience working in Machinery Equipment (Machinery Regulation), product design experience, EMC testing and experience with requirement documentation are an advantage.
